When we began brainstorming this project in 2022, we felt that a fantasy manga magazine best represented the style and interests of the authors involved, so a name like “Chronicles” made sense. We planned the contents and created several covers and mockups for a few specific publishing companies.
Another huge project came in, and suddenly, most of the authors and editors involved had to put Chronicles on hold to focus on it. We kept telling ourselves, “As soon as this series is done, we can get back to our magazine.”
Three years went by, but we never gave up. Those of us who could continued working on our storyboards and scripts between deadlines. The editors reached out to more and more artists and authors as well.
In November 2024, Star Comics (Italy), altraverse (Germany), Kana (France and Belgium), and Planeta Cómic (Spain) announced the release of Manga Issho, a European manga magazine. Finally some exciting news for European manga authors!
This collaboration confirmed our belief that our plan was not so reckless after all.
After countless meetings and rooms filled with discarded name proposals, we finally circled back to “Chronicles.” – the name we had been informally using to refer to the project all along.
That being said, Alice’s version is much more entertaining.
